AMAZING HIKING IN NICARAGUA OFF THE BEATEN PATH
By CA TRAVELERS
The Cerro Datanlí-El Diablo Nature Reserve is located in the Jinotega Department, in the mountainous north, it’s covered by the largest tropical cloud forest in Nicaragua and its highest peak reaches 1,680 meters above sea level.
It is known for its plant and animal biodiversity, being one of the two areas with the largest number of endemic species in the country. The Reserve is home to more than 79 species of trees (some impressive in size), more than 200 species of orchids, about 250 species of birds.
There is no doubt, it is one of the best places in Central America for hiking, with itineraries of moderate / medium / high difficulty.
We recommend not to miss the walks at sunrise or sunset, the best time for birdwatching.
