Shikoku's Hidden Havens

Otherworldly scenes are the norm on Shikoku.

A statue of the great saint Kōbō Daishi awaits pilgrims beneath a titanic cedar on the trail to Shōsan-ji, Temple 12 on the Shikoku Pilgrimage. This walk is the first of the sections known as "Pilgrim-killers." It is one of the most challenging and most rewarding adventures of the entire journey.
