10 Year Wedding Anniversary Cycling In The Czech Republic

There is quite literally nothing more rewardings for all of us here at Pure Adventures, than getting to be a part of our client’s most special occasions. Recently we received this note from Leisha Stelken, who booked a Czech Republic cycling tour with us to celebrate 10 amazing years of marriage with her husband.

Along with some kind words about the great experience she had on their tour, Leisha was kind enough to highlight some key spots along their travels pointing out amazing views, museums, food & drink! For those planning or thinking about planning a tour to the area, this is a must read.

Thanks Leisha for sharing your adventure with us, and here’s to many many more happy years of wedded bliss!

Dearest Melanie,

We had the time of our lives! The adventure that your group works very hard to put together pays off in ease of travel, discovery and integration into the culture, and aides unknowingly to the growth of personal relationships, regardless of status. We felt very spoiled with the selection from mauritius hotels. Suggestions within the pamphlet of places of interest and places to eat were on par. Super highlights for us included:

Prague:

Mucha Museum

Petrin Lookout Tower

Restaurant Krcma U sedmi Svabu (a new mid evil restaurant around the corner from the hotel)

Restaurant Andel (multi-level restaurant near the metro hub, super gastro fare!)

Melnik:

Breathtaking. Stunning views.

Restaurant Na Hradbach (cozy gourmet fare, not on social media, no card)

Litromerice:

Terezin Concentration Camp

Hotel was stunning. Recent total remodel. SALVA Grandhotel (the front desk person wanted to inform that the name has slightly changed) BEST breakfast buffet on the trip.

Restaurant Radnicni Sklipek (wow wow wow. Great place for us to have our celebratory anniversary dinner)

Decin:

Restaurant Fabrika

Bad Shandau:

Hrensko to Pravcicka brana. WOW. We would recommend this to anyone. It is an impressive climb, but sooooo worth it.

Restaurant Gambrinus

Dresden:

Festung Konigstein. Another helluva climb on bicycles, but TOTALLY worth it. Amazing views, intriguing part of history.

Eva’s Pizza, a great place to get grub, 3 block walk from the hotel. 5 Euro pies, 12inch Cash only. Great beer shop a couple of doors down, Hopfenkult.

Old Masters Picture Gallery

Zwinger Place

Burgerheart Restaurant (a local chain, cheeky and fantastic!)

Katy’s Garage Biergarten (80% outdoor bar. Cash only. Boutique like, firepit, etc)

The spa at the hotel was a super bonus.

A couple of things for the people that are taking the tour in three days!! Route change from Lirtomerice to Decin. On page 31 of the ‘Information Kit” at 6.5km, the trail, bike route 2, has been extended. There is no longer a need to go through the town of Velke Zernoseky. Also, major construction happening in two spots along the trail from Bad Shandau to Dresden. Please inform the tour to follow the vertical yellow signs with a ‘U’ or other bicyclists off the trail and through the town and trust that you cannot get through on the trail. We took the trail beyond the caution blockades and ended up carrying our bikes through a shallow, yet wide river pass (it was with luck that the Elbe was low on our journey).

I’m not sure if this suggestion was given in packing, but bringing swimsuits would have benefited us when crossing into Germany due to the influx of spas.

I will send some highlight photos within the week. We are in the process of making an album from both of our phones.

Again, thank you so much for making our 10yr wedding anniversary a memorable one. The trip was worth every penny!!!

Sincerely,

Leisha Stelken
