Explore the Peaks and Valleys of the Himalayas with Journeys International

Kathmandu Ridgetop Trek is the Company’s Tenth Itinerary in Nepal

Ann Arbor, Michigan – March 19, 2013 -Journeys International has recently expanded its trip offerings in Nepal with the addition of the Kathmandu Ridgetop Trek.

Nepal is known for being a trekker's paradise, and trips there can be physically challenging for many. This program was specifically designed for those who enjoy trekking but are interested in more gentle exertion at lower altitudes, which makes it appropriate for travelers of all ages and skill levels.  Additionally, the trek’s duration is completely customizable for each traveler, varying anywhere from one to twelve days.  During their adventure, travelers will meet locals along the trail and in villages, observe hundreds of species of birds, and revel in the rugged topography that is so iconic of this mystical land.

The trip begins in the colorful, culture rich city of Kathmandu, and trekkers make their first camp at Namobuddah. “This sacred site is said to be the place where Buddha offered himself to a starving Tigress and her cubs,” explains Robin Weber Pollak, President ofJourneys. “The serenity of the place is awe inspiring.”  Continuing on to the highest point of the rim of the Kathmandu valley, Phulchoki Hill, reveals the breathtaking scenery of the great Himalayan peaks to the north as well as dizzying valley views of villages, temples, and unique flora and fauna all around.  Should the weather cooperate, travelers will get a glimpse of Mt. Everest, the highest spot on earth.

Pollak proudly notes that, “My parents startedJourneys in 1978 with a trip to Nepal.  Thirty-five years later, it’s still one of our favorite destinations and with the Kathmandu Ridgetop Trek, we now offer ten different itineraries to our ‘home country,’ where our partners and guides are an extension of our family.”

Kathmandu Ridgetop Trek will debut in Journeys’ spring 2013 catalog, but is available for immediate review and booking on the company website and by speaking with a Journeys Destination Specialist.
