For the 3rd Year Mountain Bikers from Several Countries Have Crossed Spain and Portugal to Connect Madrid to Lisbon by the Mountains

Referred to as “one of the biggest mountain bike adventures in Europe” the Madrid-Lisbon MTBike is a 15-day, 15-mountain adventure covering 1,200 km from Madrid to Lisbon.  Crossing Spain and Portugal riders arrive at the Atlantic Ocean in Roca Cape, the westernmost point of Continental Europe.

On this third year of the crossing Madrid Lisbon MTBike received for the first time riders from Holland, Denmark and Australia. England, USA and Portugal were the other nationalities presents on the tour.

António Gavinho, the organizer and the man who design this route said “We are getting to the point! More people are coming and all said that the route was over their best expectations!  Our aim since the beginning of the idea was to provide to all participants a memorable and one life time experience and we are doing it!

The route is a challenge and people have to be prepared but the scenery and the trails joined with the fact that you are crossing two countries it is really a worthwhile and incredible experience!”

The whole tour route between Madrid and Lisbon covers 1230km and climbs almost 28000m in 15 days – this is a unique and fantastic route for mountain biking: following tracks, trails and medieval roads; more than 100km in single tracks; crossing valleys and climbing mountains; passing through historical towns and typical villages!

Dates are already fixed for next year's edition – 13 to 27 June 2015.
