Indigenous Kokoda Adventures (IKA) has recently added an overnight kayaking adventure on Lake Sirinumu, a huge water reservoir that was created by the damming of the Upper Laloki River. Highlights of the tour include hikes in pristine areas, having a refresh in a stunning waterfall, overnight camping on Escape Island and being able to get up close and personal to Birds of Paradise congregating at a stopping point (without getting TOO up close and personal of course!)

This is a perfect overnight tour and can easily be added to a trek along the Kokoda Track or, enjoy it on its own! Papua New Guinea is always an adventure and Indigenous Kokoda Adventures is here to help you plan YOUR adventure in this unique land of many cultures, experiences and traditions.

Who might this appeal to?

At Indigenous Kokoda Adventures, we provide unforgettable adventures that highlight pristine landscapes, the vibrant wildlife of Papua New Guinea and the unique culture and traditions of our people. Our tours are designed not just for exploration, but also to promote sustainable travel and to support our local communities. Here's what makes our kayaking adventure stand out:

Overnight Camping on Escape Island: Experience an unforgettable overnight stay on Escape Island, where guests can enjoy hiking, team bonding, and bird watching. This secluded paradise offers a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.

Witness the Bird of Paradise: This is a rare opportunity to see Birds of Paradise gather and experience them mixing and mingling and calling to one another, one of nature’s most mesmerizing sights and sounds. This once-in-a-lifetime experience is a must for nature enthusiasts. Cameras are a must!

Sustainable and Eco-Friendly: We pride ourselves on our commitment to sustainability. Our tours minimize environmental impact and as always, actively support local communities. Partnering with IKA means aligning with responsible tourism practices and promoting eco-friendly travel. We include a visit to a local village where guests can explore and learn about our culture and traditions up close.
