These sportives are a great way for cycling enthusiasts to discover these regions in Portugal. They provide great challenges, but also a way to explore the culture and history of these regions. The Douro Granfondo, in May, allows you to ride in the world's first demarcated wine region alongside more than 200 road cyclin enthusiasts; the Gerês Granfondo, in June, takes you to the imponent natural park on the north of Portugal, marked by it's lush forests. In July, you can join the toughest cycle sportive in Portugal, the Serra da Estrela Skyroad Granfondo, and ride to the highest point in continental Portugal at 2000meters and, in September, you'll be able to ride the Lousã and Açor mountain ranges to discover the hidden Schist villages.
