Ecoventura - Galapagos
About
The modern upscale yachts, Origin& Theory by Ecoventura, offer life-changing experiences by connecting explorers with the inspiring wildlife of the Galápagos. Our family-owned expedition cruise company has, for nearly three decades, led adventurous travelers to one of the most extraordinary and untouched corners of the Earth. As a member of Relais & Chateaux, Ecoventura delivers a life-enriching adventure that will redefine your client’s expectations of luxury expedition cruising. They can enjoy the stylish amenities of a boutique hotel with the unparalleled access afforded by our intimate yachts for just 20 guests.
Origin & Theory by Ecoventura were designed by Cindy Muirragui de Kronfle. Materials used include exotic stones and crystals, and petrified teak. In the lounge where geography and photography lectures are held, the ceiling is hand-painted to mimic solid wood coffers, while gray and white upholstery and leather sofas echo spotted eagle rays, and agate lamps mimic lava flows.
The ten modern spacious staterooms all have wide unobstructed ocean views, fine linens, and high-end amenities including Wi-Fi and an open bar policy. Guests enjoy a library, boutique, sundeck for al fresco dining, fashioned with day beds, wet bar, Jacuzzi, fitness center, multiple kayaks, Stand up paddleboards, and a glass-bottom boat. There is a crew of 13 including a concierge and two naturalist guides.
Departures are every Sunday offering two full-week exhilarating itineraries visiting the outermost remote islands of the archipelago. Go ashore in the company of a knowledgeable naturalist in small groups or no more than ten per guide, offering onboard enrichment lectures creating an in-depth and intimate learning environment.
After a full day exploring the untamed Galápagos islands, guests can retreat to their contemporary staterooms designed with understated luxury to foster a sense of connectivity with the destination—or mingle with like-minded travelers, and naturalists who fully engage your senses with personal enrichment. Each meal is carefully prepared, with dinner a beautifully plated four-course menu.
Founded in 1991, the family-owned expedition cruise company has led adventurous travelers to one of the most extraordinary and untouched corners of the Earth. Pure in beauty and timeless allure, these volcanic islands have a rugged, unaltered magnetism that’s increasingly scarce, and are home to endemic species found nowhere else in the world.
Origin & Theory by Ecoventura offers an unforgettable cruising experience matched only by the incomparable nature of the islands we visit. We provide emotional, authentic adventures that emphasize the destination’s awe-inspiring features while minimizing our impact on the delicate ecosystem. A recognized leader in sustainable tourism in the Galapagos Islands, Ecoventura caters to every traveler's fancies without compromising our commitment to sustainability and raise funds for research and marine conservation in our partnership with the Charles Darwin Foundation.
With its core commitment to the ongoing sustainability of this fragile and at-risk ecosystem, Ecoventura strives to ensure that local communities can benefit from tourism as well as seeking to discourage the negative effects of irresponsible tourism. Ecoventura was the first company to earn the Smart Voyager ecological certification in 2000. From 2006-2011, the company was the first to offset carbon emissions through carbon credits and in 2008 installed solar panels and wind generators to their flagship first-class yacht, the Eric.
In 2006, Ecoventura established the Galapagos Marine Biodiversity Fund in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund that supports environmental education and marine conservation by strengthening the local communities’ ability to manage natural resources. The fund provided over 30 scholarships for local students to study at the university level. Since 2012, Ecoventura has sponsored local high school students age 15-17 through a field course with Ecology Project International. In addition, once per year, four EPI students and a teacher were given a one week cruise where they were mentored by crew and naturalist guides in a career shadowing program. The company has supported the local community of San Cristobal through programs such as Pack for a Purpose to benefit the Alejandro Alvear School and Gotas de Esperanza.
A leader in sustainable cruising in the Galapagos Islands, Ecoventura has transformed the cruising experience with the Origin & Theory, offering life-enriching experiences in small compatible groups of friends, families and private charter since 1991 aboard their fleet of four expedition yachts; Origin & Theory (luxury), Letty (first-class) and the Galapagos Sky (dive liveaboard).
