Since 1969, OARS has set the standard for high-quality rafting, sea kayaking, and hiking adventures, offering unparalleled experiences on some of the world's most legendary rivers, coastlines, and mountains. From Arizona's Grand Canyon and the wilds of California, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah to the pristine gorges of Fiji and the Galapagos Islands, OARS specializes in world-class adventures across Western North America, South America, and Africa.

Founded by river pioneer George Wendt, OARS established its permanent base in Angels Camp, California in 1974. There, George and his wife Pam transformed a modest rafting company into one of the world’s most respected outfitters. Today, their sons, Tyler and Clavey Wendt, lead the company, continuing their commitment to preserving wild places and creating meaningful outdoor experiences. For more than five decades, OARS in partnership with its guests, has supported global conservation efforts through voluntary donations and fundraising events, contributing more than $6 million toward environmental preservation and various conservation initiatives.
